In 1996, a new technology emerged in the marketplace for winter maintenance professionals. Agriculture based liquid deicers were touted as being the answer to all of the negative aspects of the currently used de-icing products. With the passing nearly twelve years since Agricultural By Products were introduced, an explosion of technology and advances has lead to several products being developed specifically for the de-icing market.
Early on, the ABP’s that were offered to the maintenance professionals were derived from the processing of corn for either ethanol or alcohol. These corn-based products had their share of trials and tribulations. Nevertheless the corn-based de-icers started an explosion of these types of products that have evolved and they set the table for what is available today.
